"Iceland is located at 63° to 66° degrees, situated in the middle of the North Atlantic Ocean, weather systems travel across the sea every winter bringing Arctic weather and wilderness conditions. When winter hits Iceland the accessibility to the vast interior of the island comes down the support of professional guides and extreme logistics.
Upon your arrival in Iceland, our guides will brief you on the expedition ahead. Your expedition Super Jeeps will meet you for initial prep and loading of the vehicles. After one night spent in the capital you will be ready for departure into the wilderness, The trucks will travel a short distance along the South Coast before pointing the compass North and directly into the Highlands. The drive can take 4-6 hours depending on weather conditions, taking us directly to a geothermal mountain range paradise.
With the luxury of super-jeep transport, the Kerlingafjöll area becomes our playground over the next 5 days. The jeeps will enable you to travel in comfort and style to the bottom of some of the most remote lines in Iceland. From there you will unload your split boards and begin touring to the top of the mountain, gaining height all of the time on a clear day you start to witness the true expanse of the nature around you, wild lava fields that once flowed through the nature and serval Icecaps dominating the horizon.
Using the jeeps and VHF Radios to their full advantage you have much more freedom to ride different lines or even make a traverse as the trucks will travel to meet you after decent. After you have started getting comfortable with this method of travel and riding we have organised for an additional night to be spent in a lone cabin away from everything, truly in the wilderness, To reach this goal tour, traverse and ride across the whole region, met by the jeeps close to the location of the cabin.
It might be possible to witness the Aurora Borealis January - March. April and May will offer longer days where we can utilise the benefits of the ever approaching Midnight Sun. When your time in Kerlingarfjöll has come to an end you will be transported back to Reykjavik to share memories of the expedition over dinner and plan the next adventure over some Icelandic beers.
