Levels 2 and 3 Intermediate IKO Kite Surfing Courses On The Beautiful Island of Evia
Have you tried out kitesurfing before, but want to take your riding to the next level during your Greek kiteboarding vacation? This offer is to earn your IKO Level 2 (intermediate) and Level 3 (independent) certificates on the beautiful Greek island of Evia, which is only a one hour transfer from Athens airport!
The course operates out of the small fishing village of Lefkadi, in the centre of the southern coast of Evia. This is a perfect spot since it boasts 85-90 percent windy days from March through October and offers a wide variety of conditions: from flat water, to choppy water and even waves. Semi-private training is offered (1 instructor - 2 students), given by a highly experienced trainer who is fully certified by IKO, and all necessary equipment will be provided (kite, board, wetsuit, harness, helmet, life-vest, radio communication system) and boat assistance.
In Level 2 (intermediate), you can expect to learn the following:
F1 Enter and exit the water independently and safely while controlling the kite.
F2 Water re-launch the kite
F3 Body drag downwind
F4 Maintain correct kite position in the wind window
F5 Change direction to the left and right while body dragging
F6 Self-rescue and full pack down in deep water
G1 Upwind body drag to recover board
G2 Upwind body drag holding the board with one hand
G3 Enter and exit at the same point while upwind body dragging
H1 Know the power stroke for a water start
H2 Know the safety rules and theory for a water start
H3 Put the board onto feet while maintaining the correct position for a water start
I1 Water start in both directions including riding for a short distance
I2 Come to a controlled stop
I3 Understand the weather forecast: tidal and wind effects.
I4 Determine the wind strength direction and quality
I5 Know the ‘right of way’ rules
I6 Know equipment set up and choose according to the weather conditions
In Level 3 (independent), you will be taught the following:
J1 Control riding speed by edging.
J2 Toe side edge control
K1 Consistent riding in all directions, including upwind
K2 Ride amongst other riders and water users while respecting the ‘right of way’ rules
L1 Change direction without stopping
L2 Make a toe side turn
M1 Risk assessment and awareness of the riding area
M2 Self launch
N1 Know the theory and safety rules for jumping
N2 Land a basic jump
