Beginner Surf Camp With ASI Accredited Instruction At Kuta
This is a six day surf camp aimed at people who want to learn to surf in Bali. It is a full surfing course, based at Kuta beach that allows you to get to the line-up and catch your first waves.
The camp includes four group lessons taken over a six to eight day period, depending on conditions and your progress. This surf camp is mellow, with each lesson lasting one hour. For each lesson you will be provided with a soft top board and leash, a rash guard, board shorts, high SPF sunscreen, a towel, a locker and sports insurance.
The minimum requisite for this camp is that you want to learn how to surf and that is all! Being ASI accredited, the course is well structured and the lesson plan is as follows:
Lesson 1: "Surf Theory" where you will learn where waves come from, what different kinds there are, what a riptide is and how to deal with one. Your instructor will show you the proper technique for popping up to your feet on the board, which you will then practice on our specially made board-shaped carpets. Next, you are designated a board based on your size and weight, and the "wet" part of the lesson begins: Firstly you will practice getting on and off the board and proper paddling technique in our pool, to make sure you are ready for the ocean. Then, you will get into the ocean! Your first lesson will be on whitewater (this is the foamy part of an already broken wave), and you will surf your first wave to shore! Don't be worried, the water is warm and you will only be getting in chest-deep.
Lesson 2: Like most other sports, stretching beforehand helps with surfing so your muscles are ready for the workout. You will learn some basic exercises that you can do in order to help you feel more confident in the water. Then we review the theory again and practice popping up on board-carpets. During this lesson you will be introduced to the balance board - every surfer's best friend! Your instructor will teach you what to do with it and the proper safety technique. A balance-board is a great way to practice and train your balance, which is key for surfing. The final part of the lesson will be spent in the ocean again, practicing your technique on the whitewater.
Lesson 3: Following the first two lessons, you will already be able to stand up on the board and go forwards, now it is time to take full control of the board and make your first turns! Your instructor will show you the proper technique for turning and explain the ways that you can practice on dry land, for example on a skateboard. This type of practice is key if you want to move forward in surfing. Finally for the lesson, you will make your first turns and surf along some waves!
Lesson 4: The last lesson of the course is a very important one. You will learn surf etiquette on the line up as well as the behaviour of different types of waves and how to get out onto the line up (eskimo-rolls). You will practice sitting up and turning the board from this position in the pool. The most exciting moment - finally paddling out onto the lineup and surfing your first proper wave! Your instructor will always be close by to lend a helping hand and offer some words of encouragement!
So if you are short on time, but long on ambition for Bali surf, then join us for this surfing course to get surfing dialed in under a week!

I took a beginner course and during that time I got the hang of the whole surfing thing and got standing and riding the waves. I would go there and continue my class if I would have time, so I recommend. The price is also affordable and the quality of teaching is great.
